The Honest Horsewoman's founder, Kelli Murphy, is a life-long learner and lover of horses. She is a Connecticut certified science teacher who wants to share her passion for horses and all they have to teach us.
She has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut, where she trained horses, worked on local horse farms, and was Captain of the Morgan Horse Drill Team. She has over 10 years of experience teaching people how to be their best for the horses they love.
Her farm in Killingworth is a peaceful, judgement-free zone where horses can be horses and humans learn from them. The horses are kept in wide open spaces with other horses and fed species-appropriate diets.
Come visit today for a wholesome, holistic equestrian experience.
We are a non-competitive, non-traditional barn. Our horses live natural lives and we seek to enrich their lives with our presence instead of the other way around.
We use minimalistic and alternative tack including bitless bridles and Total Contact Saddles.
We value the horse's consent in all the work we do, and frequently practice skills at liberty with our horses.
As strong believers in life-long learning, we are constantly taking in information and practice the philosophy of "when you know better, do better" - Maya Angelou
